World Plumbing Day is an international event on March 11 initiated by the World Plumbing Council and promoted by The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) to celebrate the important role plumbing plays in the health and safety of modern society.
The safety and abundance of drinking water is, of course, a concern for most people all over the world, but what is not often emphasised is the work the plumbing industry contributes every day to alleviate these concerns. In the UK in particular, plumbers are on the front line in the fight to conserve water, while also safekeeping our families and the environment we live in.
GME Group would like to help spread the word and get everyone to better understand the role plumbers play in keeping people safe and healthy each and every day.
“Days such as World Plumbing Day highlight both the good and the bad in our vital and vibrant industry. We know the health of the nation sits on having safe, clean drinking water and effective sanitation. While the majority of tradespeople are out there working to an exceptional standard, each year people are still being severely injured and killed by poorly designed, installed and maintained plumbing systems.
“Plumbers are also on the frontline in the fight to conserve water, while safekeeping our families and the environment we live in. At the CIPHE, we believe that education and knowledge is the key to fighting a variety of problems in the industry. We wholeheartedly celebrate the role that plumbers make to our everyday lives, but still, recognise more needs to be done to make all plumbing systems safe and sustainable.”Kevin Wellman, CEO of the CIPHE
Supporting your local plumbers on World Plumbing Day
So on World Plumbing Day, try to celebrate your local plumbing experts in the best way you know-how. You could throw us a party or buy us a drink but I think we may be pushing our luck there. But what we would request is that you can steer away from any harmful DIY practices that will end up being a false economy for you. DIY plumbing repair jobs at home can make the issue worst and more expansive for you if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Appreciating your plumbing system on World Plumbing Day
Looking after your plumbing is part of your maintenance task as a homeowner. Plumbing is not often high on our list of priorities, especially when everything works. But, on World Plumbing Day, you can start a new habit to keep your plumbing system working for as long as possible.
So why not get a professional in to give your plumbing system the once over. Maybe get your pipes checked for potential clog risks and condition assessment by a professional plumber like GME Group? Why not also include sewer inspection to avoid bad surprises when your sewer pipes suddenly clog up!
